411 East 9th Street (Dave’s studio 1998-2024)

(Those wanting to visit my new studio, can schedule a visit through my Contact Page)

411 was the address of my longtime studio in East Lawrence. Over the twenty-five years that I was there, the space has served many purposes beyond being the place where I developed mural designs and made spraypaint stencils. It was first home of the Lawrence Percolator, a U.S. Department of Arts and Culture Field Office, the work space for many protests and marches and home to exhibitions and events that couldn’t find a space anywhere else. And before it was my studio, 411 East 9th had many other lives - as a cabinet shop, electrical repair and the purpose for which it was built, Les Proctor’s Garage.

Still from the short film, “Facing East.” (Watch it here)
